The information and activities on this site trace the journey from cocoa beans, grown by farmers in Ghana, to the chocolate bars we buy in the shops. The journey is designed to show the impact our consumer decisions can have on growers in economically developing countries and to show that buying Fairtrade can make a substantial positive difference to the lives of producers and their families. The Shop and Change units show how individuals, schools and other organisations can make a difference by selling and buying Fairtrade goods.

Please take a tour of the site and familiarise yourself with the wealth of material available to help your students understand the benefits of Fairtrade and have fun at the same time.

If you do not have time to cover all the activities on the site, focussing on the following will ensure that you get the message across:

Many of the lessons can be delivered or supplemented by interactive activities but are not dependent upon them. The major themes of the pack are also reflected in the DVD which can be ordered from here.

Essential photographs and other visuals are available to view or download and print from the site. You can also purchase the bean to bar photographs as high quality images on A4 card.

All lesson plans and worksheets are available on the site as PDFs to download and print. Please remember that these will need to be printed and photocopied in advance of lessons. Lesson plans indicate whether the activities are designed for individual, pair or group work.
